Bible Verses for When You’re Overwhelmed

Scripture Promises for Every Overwhelmed Girl

Life can be overwhelming. Just this past week I was coming home from work and looked around at my messy living room. I heaved a huge exasperated sigh as I set down my bags, and immediately began picking up the clutter that was everywhere.  Just as I finished cleaning I peered up at the clock and realized I was already running late to my next meeting. I hadn’t even gotten a chance to eat.  I started crying… you know the ugly cry that you hope to goodness no one ever sees.  In that moment I felt as though every responsibility in the world was on my shoulders, and in that brief moment I had failed.

Any girl ever felt that way?

It can be such and overwhelming burden to feel like you need to be all things to all people. The truth is we can’t have it all together all the time. We can’t do it all our self.  In those moments of ugly cries, and times you want to scream, I want to remind you that God has never asked you to have it all together. Actually Jesus asks the opposite. He ask you to lay own your burdens and let him carry them for a while.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, lonely, worried, insecure, or anxious there are two things you need to do RIGHT NOW! 1) Stop whatever you are doing 2) Go to Jesus.

Imagine if you spent 2 weeks straight giving your burdens to Jesus.

Let’s do it together! I challenge you for the next 14 days to let God’s promises from the Bible flood your heart. Below are 14 Scriptures designed for every girl that is overwhelmed. Breath these scriptures and the promises they hold! If you need a visual like me, print out 14 Printable Scripture Promise Cards and speak one out loud every day. Pray the promise. Post the promise somewhere you can see it. Don’t let your burdens keep you from the promise of grace one day longer!

Bible Verses for When You’re Overwhelmed

Your help comes from the Lord the master of the universe.

Psalm 121:1-2

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

The spirit helps you at your weakest.

Romans 8:26

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

The Lord journeys along side you.

Deuteronomy 31:8

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will never leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

Nothing in this world can separate you from Christ’s unwavering love.

Romans 8:37-39

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Our sufferings lead to hope, and hope never disappoints.

Romans 5:3-5

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

God overcomes your fear and makes you bold.

2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

The Lord provides a peace beyond comprehension to protect you.

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

The Lord loves to hear from us and restore us.

1 John 5:14-15

And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.

You can’t escape the love of Christ.

Psalm 139:7-10

I can never escape from your Spirit!  I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning,if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me,   and your strength will support me.

The Lord shoulders your burdens.

Matthew 11:28-30

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

The Lord cares for each of your worries.

1 Peter 5:7

Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.

The Lord alone revives your strength.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Nothing can overtake you, Jesus overcame it all.

John 16:33

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

The Lord made you purposefully and wonderfully.

Psalm 139:13-14

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Don’t  EVER let the stress of this world, or the overwhelming pressure to have it all together , pull you away from the promises that Christ has made to you. He purposefully promises to never leave you. He promises to help you. He promises to even carry you! If you ever are thinking you are all alone, or have to do everything yourself, remember He is journeying ride along side you.

    Dear Erica
Glad to visit your blog Restored Restored Reality.
Today I read Bible Verses for When You’re Overwhelmed; I’ll come back another day to read another post.
I thought I’d leave a comment though to let you know I enjoyed reading it.
You do also have a beautifully designed blog.
That’s something I appreciate as a blog reader.
We all know the feeling of running late 🙂 I smile because your descriptions are so familiar to me.
Your right when you write: “The truth is we can’t have it all together all the time. We can’t-do it all our self.”
Perhaps we should try to aim to do half of what we planned; that would be a way of being more satisfied with what we do, and we would be better positioned for success.
As you say; God has never asked us to have it all together.
I have given it much thought lately that we as Christian bloggers have to possibility via our blogs to show people that we have found a way out of the stress; that we’re trying to be happy with doing less.
It sounds so easy when I write it, but sure it isn’t! 🙂
I’m glad to see you have the same thoughts o this topic.
I read many Christian blogs weekly; your blog post was the first I found on this subject.

    Blessings!
